About This Event

Most coaches and directors set goals for the new year. Very few connect those goals to how they actually talk to themselves — and that gap is where most plans fall apart. The ARA Coaches Circle opens 2027 with a session built around exactly that: reflect on the year behind you, reset your mindset, and reconnect with why you do this work. Matt Simons, creator of the BALANCE framework and Mentally Tough Training, leads a structured 20-minute lesson on goal setting and self-talk — the real kind, not the infomercial kind — followed by an open peer discussion where the room takes over. This is not a lecture. It is a conversation among racket sports professionals who deal with the same pressures, the same long days, and the same invisible weight of leading others while managing themselves. What the session covers: - Why most goal setting fails — and what changes when you connect goals to your internal language - How to build a self-talk reset plan that actually travels with you onto the court and into the office - The BALANCE framework as a daily performance tool for coaches, not just players - Open peer discussion: what are you carrying into 2027, and what are you leaving behind? Who should attend: Tennis, pickleball, and padel coaches, directors of racket sports, club managers, assistant pros, and anyone in the racket sports industry who wants 2027 to feel different from the inside out. The first 20 minutes are recorded for the ARA member library. The open discussion that follows is completely off the record. What's said in the room stays in the room.

Speakers present their own views and their own data. Not ARA positions or ARA-verified claims. See our Editorial Standards.
